Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British American singer and musician, is most well-known for her music. She received the British House of Commons' Shield as the youngest, and first female recipient. In addition to the nine Grammy awards She was also the very first Indian-origin musician to be a presenter and performer during the ceremony live. Anoushka Sitar Shankar was the Indian young sitar star. She is a scholar and daughter of the legendary Ravi Shankar. She was born in 1982 in London. The first few years of her life were split between London as well as New Delhi. In New Delhi, she made her debut when she was only thirteen years old. Then she moved to Encinitas CA, where she received the High School diploma with honors in the year 1999. Anouskha is still a young woman, however she's got an remarkable career in the field of music and performance. For a long time she regularly performs with her father. In 1998, she released Anourag as her debut single album. The Grammy Award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years later than her first solo album. When she moved to California she graduated from her high school. She started learning to play the guitar at age 9 and played the sitar in celebration of the 75th anniversary the birth of her father in Delhi four years later. Alongside her father, they toured around the globe, Anoushka racked up a wealth of experience performing on stage at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens performing at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival as well as making recordings together with George Harrison. The youngest female to receive the House of Commons Shield, given by the British Parliament as recognition of her talent and musicianship within the Asian Arts.
